Una vita di fotografie


Basterebbero le serie di ritratti e le loro strane serialità (gente al Luna Park, motorini, uomini sulla poltrona del barbiere) a rendere il lavoro di Doug Dubois estremamente interessante. Poi scopri che quello è solo l’inizio e che ha anche realizzato due serie nell’arco di vent’anni e più di vita, che si chiamano semplicemente Family Photos, e ti rendi conto di quanto è davvero esteso e bello il suo lavoro.
Qui una conversazione con Alec Soth, tratta da Conscientious (grazie, ancora una volta).

The portrait series with their repetitive style (people at amusement parks or on scooters, men sitting on the barber’s chair) would already be more than enough to make the work of Doug Dubois quite interesting. Then you find out that you just saw the tip of the iceberg and that he also made two series along more than twenty years, simply called Family Photos, and there you finally realise how vast and beautiful is his work.

Il lavoro di Dubois è veramente interessante.

Però (però?) nelle due serie "family photos" ci vedo tanto ordine, tanto vuoto e solitudine.
